The National conference “PMETB- opportunities and Challenges” was
held at the Good Hope Hospital NHS Trust, Sutton Coldfield,
Birmingham. Dr. Kishore Gupta welcomed the guests and delegates.
Mr. Graham Comfort chairman of the Trust opened the meeting. He
said being New Zealander it is easy for him to understand the
difficulties faced by overseas doctors. He admired the work being
done by Indian doctors in the NHS. Dr. Umesh Prabhu described how
the SAS doctors are the “Foot soldiers” and Dr Greg Dilliway gave
update on the SAS contract negotiations. Dr. Gareth Holsgrove
explained in detail the concept of PMETB and outlined the approach
to application. The workshops by Dr. Ashok Beckaya, Dr. Virendra
Puri and Dr. Gopal once again were very well received.

BAPIO west Midland division was officially launched in the evening
at a glittering ceremony by Mr.Narayan Prakash Sharma the Consul
General of India. He appreciated the excellent work carried out by
Indian doctors in UK. He also hoped that these doctors will
consider Investing in India which is now developing at a fast
rate.
Guests were welcomed by well known Birmingham GP Dr. Prakash Sahay.
Dr. Kishore Gupta, Chairman of the West Midland Division was very
enthusiastic.
“I am very impressed with the work done nationally by BAPIO and I
hope our division will actively contribute” He said. Dr. Ramesh
Mehta national President and Dr. Umesh Prabhu national vice
chairman expressed their best wishes. Office bearers of the
division include Mr.Hemant Ojha; Dr. Gyan Sinha; Dr. Kishor Tewari;
Dr. Anand Sinha; Dr. Sanjeev Deshpande and Dr. Arun Vellore.
